Well i was going to title this "Brad Pitt has nice legs" but thought better of it...
Tonight i went to see the movie "Troy". I'd heard it wasnt that great... and yeah maybe the movie was "hollywoodised" - actually it wasnt badly done. And u already know the storyline. For me i liked it because it got me thinking. i hated the violence and cried at the end so the movie must have been good in some way...
So now i have a bit to think about... i have quite a few questions...
i was actually wondering if all the guys in Troy shaved their chests for the movie?
and did they digitally enhance orlando bloom's pecs?? cos he looked pretty good!!
but what was with the hair?? looked like he had a perm!
hahahah... nah i'm only joking..
i dont think i know the historical context well enough - like what is actually true and what was "ad lib".
do women seriously make men crazy enough to go to war?
are guys really driven as far today by pride, power and possessions?
i think the movie got me thinking about the gods the ancient Greeks worshipped. although misguided the people really did put their trust in their gods over human reasoning...well in the movie anyway. it was a great reminder too of how great the true God really is....
the people relied on things they interpreted as symbols from the gods and put such hope in their gods to deliver them. they really took the desecration of their god's temples seriously... but in the end those gods were powerless. yet through the bible u can really see how awesome God really is because He really did deliver His people and He revealed Himself to us concretely in Jesus Christ!!
the movie also got me thinking about existentialism and achilles' quest for immortality --> through the fact that his name will live on because of his battle victories. I guess it's half right in recognising that this world is temporary.
gee..how much has history has been shaped by these battles over such things as pride and power...
ok now i'm rambling and having odd thoughts... think i'll call it a night...
